The Syndicat Mixte of Béziers Cap d'Agde Airport
Since April 2009, the Béziers Cap d’Agde Airport in Languedoc has been owned and managed by a Syndicat mixte including the Urban area Communities of Beziers Mediterranee and Herault Mediterranee, the Community of Communes La Domitienne, the Chamber of commerce of Beziers Saint Pons (who have managed the airport for the last 35 years) and the Department council of the Herault.
With the creation of the Syndicat mixte and expanded capacity, the Beziers Cap d'Agde Airport in Languedoc has followed an aggressive development plan. Rising from 27,000 passengers in 2007 to 195,000 passengers in 2011, it now operates eight European routes. In addition to passenger growth, the airports's strategy also aims to create various economic benefits for West Herault, valued at 58.9 million euros in 2011. Notably, the airport has created more than one hundred jobs in early 2012.
The Syndicat mixte also owns 30 hectares of undeveloped reserves of land on which it seeks to accommodate aviation sector companies and businesses relying on the nearby transportation infrastructure.
